Washing Machines

| Green Purchasing Network (GPN) |

| These guidelines cover important environmental issues that should be considered
when purchasing household washing machines, including single-tank automatic
and double-tank (semi-manual) style products. |
 |
| When
purchasing washing machines, the following articles shall
be considered for purchasing products with as little environmental burden
as possible: |
| 1) |
Use a minimal amount of water |
| 2) |
Equipped with an automatic water supply system that
draws water from used bathtub water |
| 3) |
Minimal power consumption during operation |
| 4) |
The manufacturer provides full maintenance service in order to make long-term
use feasible |
| 5) |
Designed to facilitate component parts recycling |
| 6) |
Made with a large amount of recycled material |
| 7) |
Does
not contain lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium compounds, or
specific bromine-based flame-retardants (PBB, PBDE), to the utmost extent
possible |
